ZaNECD unites Early Childhood Development stakeholders, service providers, and government partners to ensure every Zanzibari child — from conception to age eight — grows, learns, and thrives in a safe and nurturing environment.
ZaNECD was established in 2025 with the mission to bring together Early Childhood Development (ECD) providers and stakeholders across Zanzibar.
Our goal is to create an environment where all children, including those with special needs, can achieve holistic growth — physically, cognitively, socially, emotionally, and creatively — and reach their fullest potential.
Through collaboration, advocacy, and coordinated action, ZaNECD strengthens the link between non-state actors, government institutions, and development partners, ensuring every child is supported from the earliest years of life.
ZaNECD works to influence and align national and local ECD policies with the needs of children, families, and communities.
We strive to enhance the capabilities of ECD practitioners, educators, and partners through training, workshops, and knowledge-sharing platforms.
Recognizing that parents and caregiver, ZaNECD supports initiatives that promote positive parenting, early learning at home, and community participation.
